Doreet’s love for Life and all the experiences of a severe illness that brought her close to the brink (of dying), propelled her into writing:
“CELEBRATING OUR RAW NATURE- A Guide for Transitioning to a Plant-Based, Living foods Diet.” and then its sequel, Celebrating our Raw Nature, Plant-based Living Cuisine ( the all raw version with an accent on Seasonal Meals and recipes for children) which is available on Amazon.com.
The name of this segment comes from the title of her third book (still a work in progress): RECIPES FOR A SERENE LIFE. This is also the title for the DVD series which focuses on all the ingredients needed for a truly sustainable lifestyle.-one that is lived from within. A DVD featuring Dorit titled: Beyond Raw: A Philosophy was released on Amazon.com in 2008 and is presently only available in Canada where it was filmed and produced.
Adding variety to her work as a Certified Living Foods Chef, and Certified Movement Analyst/ Therapist, Dorit was a workshop leader for a medically supervised Cleansing and Detoxification Retreat at the Fox Hollow Clinic and Spa in Kentucky.
As a Certified Movement Analyst/Therapist, she was the innovator and founder of the Movement Therapy Department at Canyon Ranch Spa in the Berkshires where she introduced Pilates & Gyrotonics and under her direction, this department became the most financially profitable department of Canyon Ranch Spa at the time. She built a steady and loyal following there which included Donna Karan and Yoko Ono.
Doreet also created and taught the most attended yoga class at the New York Health & Racquet Club in NYC. (Most times there was a queue outside the classes and a waiting list to get into her classes). She was also the Gym Floor Manager at the NY Health & Racquet Club’s 56th Street flagship gym and maintained a private practice with Schmuel Tatz (PT, Body Tuning) at Carnegie Hall where she taught Pilates, Yoga, Laban Movement Studies, Postural Analysis, Bartenieff Fundamentals and Developmental Movement ( Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen) all from her own unique perspective- that we are creatures of movement and any long term static lifestyle leads to discontent, imbalance and eventually illness both of a physical and mental nature.
She was also co-Director and the lead teacher trainer of the Lotte Berk Method in NYC (often now referred to as the barre method).
In 2010, Doreet founded and organized Green Lifestyles Network a non -profit, which seeks to change the vision and use of films and all forms of media from violence-ridden and demeaning subjects and material, to uplifting, educational, and motivational works of art which address our real issues as wounded beings living on a bountiful and forgiving planet.
Her many other credits include being a regular workshop presenter at the annual Bioneers By The Bay Conference in New Bedford, Massachusetts, (aka Connecting For Change), was a presenter on Food Sustainability at the New Jersey Green Business Summit at the Rutgers University in NJ, and a speaker at the San Diego Vegetarian Festival, amongst many others.
Doreet taught workshops at Whole Foods Markets, across the USA and was one of the premier teachers at Erewhon Natural Foods Market in Los Angeles where she presently resides. She has been a presenter and panel moderator for the Raw Spirit Festival in Sedona, Arizona, and has presented at the Toronto Raw Vegan Festival and The Vegetarian Festival in Toronto, Canada. Through her company, Serenity Spaces/Serenity Foods, she runs a catering business, meditation, and lifestyle classes and is a private chef & personal trainer to a number of celebrity clients. She created the menu, and trained the staff, for a Rudolf Steiner-based café called ELDERBERRIES on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, California which was opened in October of 2009, for those who wish to add more live, nutrient-packed high energy foods to their diet.
Doreet is a Certified Chopra Center Educator specializing in LifeSkills Coaching which includes Meditation, Hatha Yoga, teaching Peace- Based Communication skills and created a very successful workshop on healing eating disorders through emotional, mental, and physical work. (*The Sacred Art of Eating) that was presented at Toronto Sprouts in Toronto, Canada.
Doreet was the Personal Chef, and Yoga Teacher to the tennis pro Serena Williams and her client list includes such luminaries such as Marla Gibbs (best known for her role on The Jeffersons), Debra Wilson (longest-running cast member of MadTV & films such as AVATAR) and Andy Dick (Comedian).
In 2004, Dorit shot a pilot for TV release called The UN-Cooking Show, and in August 2009 she was the featured chef for another nationwide syndicated TV pilot. Her TV shows on SMTV have received many accolades and as a result, she was featured on their Red Carpet at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. She regularly tours the United States and Canada to promote the message of Purpose- based Eating/Mindful Living with her unique focus on how to change our relationship with food and heal the deep wounds that propel us to make harmful lifestyle choices.
In August 2020 she joined the Jane UnChained News Network (JNN) where she created and hosts the Live Online Show: Elegantly Raw every Sunday morning at 11am PST. In December 2020 she will host their signature show Lunch Break LIVE on Mondays at 12:30pm (PST).
Doreet is well known for bringing high energy and healing foods into the forefront. She is also a strong advocate for paying attention to all our lifestyle changes that will help stem the ever-increasing anthropogenic climate change.
Doreet’s accomplishments include being the Originator/Creator & Producer of the Raw Lifestyle Film Festival which grew into an international film festival known as the Green Lifestyle Film Festival and later became the Green Lifestyles Network. After an injury, Doreet turned the nonprofit over to Rachel Linden.
